History The Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters was founded in 1985 with the stated purpose of enabling Iowa beef producers the opportunity to showcase their product at the Iowa State Fair.
Initially, 35 county cattlemen’s organizations provided the startup funds and the volunteers necessary to run the operation. The first six years the restaurant was operated out of a tent. In 1992, the building with a seating capacity of 380 was constructed and has received several updates in the subsequent years. It takes 1,200+ volunteers each year to prepare and serve beef to the fairgoers. This year, the majority of beef served at the Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters will originate from the Iowa Premium facility in Tama, IA further validating our missing to promote Iowa’s beef industry. The Iowa State Fair has something for everyone and eating a Hot Beef Sundae at the Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters is a must on many fairgoers list! |
